As we all know, there’s 4 schemes you can choose to base your offense off of. Vert, West coast, spread, and smashmouth. The problem with this is that Vert and West coast are leaps and bounds above the other 2 schemes. Starting off with the 2 pt conversion plays. West coast arguably has the best. Middle slant, toss, and middle drag make for an easy 2pt trip every time. Now when you take a look at spread for example, which in my opinion is the worst, they basically have nothing. A draw play that gets blown up each and every single time you run it, a Zone play with very questionable blocking, 2 short pass plays that usually don’t get open because of how broken the defensive zones are, and play action plays that have all deep routes. If we take a look at how each scheme performs in OD, Vert overpowers every scheme. And You’d be better off running Fake FG run each play than running any of the run plays in SM. You would think that spread would have the best play action plays since it is a spread offense right? Nope. Partially because the zones are completely broken. the corners will cover a flat and a corner route at the same time, and linebackers jump 10 ft in the air and swat everything down, Basically eliminating all the PA passes in spread as a viable option because they rely so heavily on routes over the middle. If you couldn’t already tell, I’m a very salty spread player who gets beat by every vert player and feels that spread is completely underpowered and not as good as it should be. Just a little rant because I have nothing else to do 😂
