The other thing you can do is call a kicking play and burn a TO, but as far as seeing the wind without calling a kick, I don't believe it can be done.
I've done workarounds like this but it sucks to waste a TO and the coach suggestion isn't always reliable. This seems like a very easy thing that they can fix and push as a great "new" feature for next year
